Brexit - the end of TP cover in Europe/on the Nordschleife??
Discussion
Pretty much as the title says. Once article ten has been inacted will this mean we will go back to the days of having to pay for driving cover abroad ie no compulsory third party cover in Europe (currently provided 'free' by UK insurers). I say this as I think I am right in saying this was forced on UK insurers by the European Union.
Insurers also have to provide third party cover on the Nordschleife under EU law as it is a public toll road so will this end too??
Apologies if already discussed here or elsewhere.

Except they don't have to provide that cover on the Nurburgring and it's a specifically stated exclusion on pretty well every policy.
Just because the UK is leaving the EU doesn't mean that insurers will stop offering European cover on policies. It may become an option that you pay for and it may not, it might also be a benefit that they take away and charge less for policies without it for those who don't need it.

Report on change to uninsured driver damage to be expanded to cover those whoes uninsured vehicle is damaged by an uninsured driver. I am not sure how often that happens in the course of events.

You're wrong. It's part of the Green Card system defined in the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, which is not directly related to the EU, but to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe - UNECE. Some countries - including all the EU, but also including others - have ratified the agreements so that green cards aren't necessary, your own national insurance covers you automatically.

Unless I've missed something, not even the kippiest of kippers are suggesting we leave the UN. Yet...

Would your drive your pride and joy third party only?
IMHO anyone who does, regardless of county is and idiot.
Risk vs reward.

I do have fully comp cover but, for low value vehicles, I might as well only have TPO - because it wouldn't be worth claiming for damage to them. Anything below about a grand-or-two's worth isn't really worth claiming for, including for fire or theft.
So, no, it doesn't bother me one bit to only have TPO when I'm outside the UK.
Anyway, going back to your original statement...

Complete non issue.

Lovely, an' all, but you're forgetting one thing. Let's say your normal policy doesn't include full comp for foreign travel. Perhaps you've misread the policy, and accidentally overstayed the maximum period they'll cover in one trip or cumulatively in the year.Complete non issue.

Without the Vienna automatic-TP cover, you'd be completely uninsured and driving illegally. With it, you're legal, and the only difference is damage you're liable for on your car is not covered.

There is no insurance available, nor has there ever been, that will cover you FOR THIRD PARTY LOSSES on the Nordschleife on public days.-Edited for clarity, despite thread title obviousness-

Wrong.First google result for Nurburgring insurance said:
Insure My Trackday can provide quotations for any circuit in UK or Europe, including Spa and Nurburgring Nordschleife. The insurance policy for Nurburgring Nordschleife will also include cover for damage to Armco at the circuit – which you are liable for - and can add up to a serious amount of money.
