Hi Guys,

I had a great day on sunday, and nice to meet those of you I chatted too. Thanks especially to hunttheshunt who gave me a lift home!

I mixture of photos, unfortunately I was a bit limited by where I could get close enough to the track. I think i managed to get one of most people. Anyways:

Nice Matt, I particularly like the silluetted (is that a word?!) one of Martin's V6GTO - very "moody" :-)

I give up, I've been using webshots etc for hosting photographs but whenever I post them onto PH they never come out.

Granted I could be a plank, so if you can help, great otherwise any suggestions on a more suitable repository would be gratefully received.

Well you could just post the link to your webshots album?

Dan,

I've done that before and they work in preview, but then subsequently fail. There was a post about just this issue with Webshots...or was I dreaming??

Happy to accept that I'm an idiot if someone can explain what I am doing wrong!!

Webshots, like many hosting services, tries to stop you taking their bandwidth unless they can show their "adverts" to people looking at your pictures.

They consequently check the "referring" page of any image request, and if it isn't the webshots page (e.g. you've put it into pistonheads) then they refuse to show the image.

The reason it works and then doesn't is down to your browser. Whenever you browse anywhere your browser saves a copy of the image, web page and other stuff to your hard drive. It then uses that for a while and doesn't ask the web server for the image. However, after a while, it goes and checks that the image hasn't changed in the meantime, and when that happens, webshots refuses to serve it and hence it then fails.

As I've often said, I am always happy to host any number of piccies or videos, regardless of content. There is no "swanky" upload thingy like webshots, you just email me the pictures and I upload them and provide the links.

I am working on a "Noble" gallery system and will have it live in a few weeks, but for the time being feel free to email me anything you have and I'll stick it on a server for you.

Just type in the link to your album, eg.
"www.blahdyblah.com/mypics/" and leave out the [pic] and [/pic] stuff completely. You won't see your pictures in "Message Preview" but everyone can still click on the link and get to them that way.
