Enlighten me!

Helping out my Dad with his S at the mo! Are the headlights for an S2 from a mini by chance? How tricky a job is it to remove the old ones and replace them? All thoughts greatfully received by me until his broadband connection is up!

PS he is in Northants so if there are any Northants members that might be able to give him some guidance please let me know!

Yes they are from a mini and are pretty easy to replace, there must be a few guys in the Northants area that can help.........Pete....Dale

Very easy. Remove the chrome ring, 1 screw, twist light out. 3 crossheads screws locat the inner chrome ring on the light, fit inner ring back on new light, put it back together. Fitting is reversal or removal

i'm in the northants area and still looking for a replacment set of lights as mine have a bit of rust in them, ts hard to get hold of a set of mini ones as no-one seems to stock anything now.

I have just done the very same.
The only problem is cutting the wires to get them through the plastic shell.
I soldered mine and are as good as new.
Mini sport ltd have all the bits needed. E Mail me for part nos.
If you look around the mini net sites, you will find replacement stainless steel rings too!
Took a couple of hours to fit. The rings do need a quick mod to add the lug to the bottom, otherwise std mini...

I did mine a couple of weeks ago, some of the screw heads sheared off! easy job to pilot drill new holes slightly further around the circumference. Took about one hour in total. Got mine from www.s-v-c.co.uk just give them a ring, very helpful and arrived in 2 days.

Which ones Steve? The ones that secure the inner ring? That's what usually corrodes. I just went for all new chrome.

The screws that sheared were the ones holding the plastic bowl onto the GRP. Replaced the whole lot, new bowls, improved Wipac lense with halogen bulbs and new outer rings (chrome on brass [if I remember correctly]so will not rust). The gentleman I spoke to was very helpful and knew what an S3 was.
