OK, here is quick post about my day.

This is the first time that I had managed to get the car working just right. With so many mods done, it was always going to take a while and I was looking forward to checking my mapping out at Brunters.

The morning was spent really just getting the car warmed up and clearing out the cob-webs. Once that was done I did a couple a reasonable runs to take it through the gears with data logging turned on. This enables me to check all the Motec stuff that I can't see because I'm driving.

Here is a (small) pic of the logging.

Top graph is RPM, done from second gear rolling start. So you can see the RPM rise and fall through the gears.

The second graph is lambda aim value and actual. I'm only graphing one of the 2 wideband sensors, but you can see my hours of mapping has paid off with relatively little error on the fueling.

The next graphs are throttle position and boost. Boost is also controlled by Motec and you can see quick building followed by a nice steady 1bar.

What you can't see on the right is details of all the other sensors I logged. It shows compressor output temp and intake temp. Given my pressure ratio of 2 (i.e. 1bar boost) I can work out the turbo efficiency. Initially this starts out at just over 75% but once you get to 5th, and heat starts to build up in the turbo, that drops to 65%.

So basically took it slow in the morning, and spent the afternoon doing head-heads.

There should be a little clip from Andy's GT2 that I have uploaded to Piston TV, once it gets cleared.

And finally:

5th gear works out at 30mph per 1000 rpm. Red line is 7500....

Nice one UV.

What approx power do you reckon you were running in the afternoon? As I remember you telling me it was ~450 in the morning.

Thanks

MOD.

Made a fantastic noise whenever that car disappeared (very rapidly) off the line...

Impressive stuff, the car has really come on great bounds since you started on your quest for world domination!!!

Did you have a problem changing from 4th to 5th?

I remember having a conversation a while ago where someone suggested driving the return around the outfield and the run down to the start without spooling the turbos up. The idea being for the turbos to be as cool as possible before blasting it down the runway. Maybe worth trying at the next event?

After seeing the datalogging I decided nothing needed changing and was having too much fun to start fanning around mapping the boost correctly. Whilst I could have done a rough job quite quickly, it's not the way I like to do things. Felt it was better to enjoy the day as was, and map the car correctly at a later date.

That gear change was probably me being a spaz...

I guess I was running around 450bhp all day, although it makes around 470ft/lbs.

For those that haven't worked it out yet redline in 5th is 225mph. At least that's one thing that won't need mod'ing...

225, that'd be enough to see off the Rufs sadly with a Turbo 2 like ours, the Cd, frontal area and other friction losses mean that we'll need about 590 hp at the flywheel just to scrape a top speed of 200.

Fantastic clip UV, great to see your mods are coming together...seems explosive on the Brunters straight, what is your car like on the road??? "light the touch paper & stand well back" comes to mind.

It's great on the road really progressive. The new turbo builds boost really early, even earlier than the original K27 Quick Spool. However, it hits 1 bar slightly later, but will flow 550bhp.

I have taken a bit of the timing out of the mid range to stop the tyres letting go when you floor it in 2nd/3rd/4th, and also vented some of the boost. I think it makes the car a better package, although theoretically slightly slower...
