Tempted by a dealer prereg delivery mileage M5 But they are saying they can only offer the new 3 year pack as its after 1st Jan 17 but I am arguing the car was registered 23rd December 2016 so why cannot they let me have the 5 year one.Apparently it needs to be invoiced and delivered and not just registered.Trying to get through to BMW Customer services to clarify.
Opinions please also if it still is a formidable car compared to current stuff out there even though its been around for a while

Can't help on the service pack I'm afraid but I can confirm it's still a formidable car by any standards. I picked up a new one out of BMW stock just before Christmas having been in an M3 for a year or so. The M5 is a brilliant all rounder and bonkers fast when you need it to be. You won't regret it if you get one.

The new service plan isn't worth it on the M5. Not only are oil top-ups excluded but so too is the compulsory running-in service. Buy the car though. They are fast enough to live with pretty much anything but stealthy when you want to blend in. Yes you would be faster in something else down a bumpy B road but when hooked up in the right conditions these are shockingly fast and very practical too if you have one with folding seats. What is frustrating is that you only get a few seconds of flat out before you are well into licence losing territory.

Has the service plan just changed then? I bought my car in December 16 with the three year one and the running in service is covered?

My dealer showed me something on their screen excluding those items a few days ago.

So was mine? I've had two top ups too.

I can also confirm the running-in service is include in the service pack, as are oil-top ups. Had mine done just recently. Why would they exclude the running in service anyway, they want to encourage owners to have them done!

Depending on how long you own the car and mileage covered. I compared to the cost of the services outside of the pack and it certainly worked out more cost effective for me to get the pack.

You'll not regret it. I had an SVM 650r GT-R a few years back & although ballistic quick, once that novelty wears off you really are left wanting. As a weekend/track toy they're another level but as a day to day car they're woeful. That said i believe the new MY17 is a big step up but still now based on a 10yr old car.

The M5 has 90% of the performance of the GT-R but is 100% better at everything else & of course you blend in when on the road rather than shouting at everyone (which i prefer).
