What is this boat?

Was hanging with some friends in a creek and stumbled across this small ship.
Anyone have any idea what type of boat it is? it was last licensed is 87.

I have no idea, apparently been there for years as a couple days ago I ran into a guy who had tried to dig it out 5-7 years prior.

Was answering the second question, the creek is in the Sacramento area

So are boats required to be licensed for use and if so who issues the licenses?
You might need to make a few enquiries in the area to find that out. Chances are the details of the boat & its owner will be a matter of public record.
Perhaps a local boat yard might have the local knowledge required.

So California sucks when it comes to looking up vessels registrations, its all very private and near impossible to look up anything.
What makes it more difficult is that it was last registered in 87' so most of what was recorded is deep in the archives and far from the public eye. We may be able to pull it out of the creek today, and if so I will post images of what the inside looks like as well.
While talking with the guy who tried digging it out 5-7 years ago, he said that he was told the person who owned the boat, if they were to dig it out, may want it back. However, he has no idea who previously owned it nor if he is even still alive.
Right now, however, I am simply curious as to what type of boat it is.

Dug out & right way up you might have a chance.
Again, local boatyard likely to have a better idea so lots of photos & a bit of legwork.
