What type of oil is recommended for the Griff. One specialist told me that Shell 10w 40 semi synthetic was fine, another strongly recommended Mobil 1 5w30. Any thoughts ?

Hi Higgins,

lots of debate on this, there will be tons on this if you search the archives...

I use Castrol Formula RS 10-60 bought direct from castrol. And I find it superb. I used to have an Elise and that had Mobil 1 and then I changed to Castrol and it was much smoother quieter. I spoke to Castrol when I got the Griff and they recommended the same, tried it and it works a treat!

My griff hardly uses any oil and I think as a general rule, if it uses lots use a thicker oil, if hardly any then Mobil 1 0-40 is fine. I may be contradicting myself there but I will stick with my trusty Castrol RS.

Lig.
