Not realising.. driving my car for 9months without an mot because i had previously bought an identical car as a runabout while my car was being fixed.. new clutch flywheel, the works... i mot'd the runabout and when i got my car back i had it in my head that my car had an mot.. i let it slip.. i didnt pay attention.. anyhoo... in that time ive been followed by the police many times just in the normal flow of traffic.. ive even had undercover police come alongside me giving me a slow down gesture.. all of this time ive not been stopped.. What do ANPR cameras actually pick up because i should have been stopped..

It seems that vehicle/road tax is more on their radar than MOT.

A few times I have done something similar to yourself. I am all over Insurance and Road Tax but when you have a few cars then MOT expiry seems a bit too easy to miss.

Thanks

My heart sank when i realised how long id been driving with out an mot.. i may aswell of not had insurance either because without an mot the insurance is invalid.. i now have an app in my phone to check my mot status just to make sure the mot station have done their job.. i would say to anyone check your mot now because you dont get reminder letters about that..

It is not invalid, you are still covered but not sure how they work it with regards to paying you back if you have a crash, the other party will still get paid.

As a side note to the thead i tax an unisured car last week, the PO assume that as it's now a finable offence to have an uninsured car taxed that no one will do it, hense they no longer check the MID or ask to see my trader insurance, so it's now even easyer to tax a vehical if you dont have insurance, MOT probably isn't connected to ANPR cos it's a non indorsable fine only ?

Insurance is NOT invalidated by having no MOT it is and allways has been compleat BS, you'll get paid out less, my insurance recon up to 50% depending on the circumstances IE on the way to a test no issue, 9 months out? your an idiot you loose up to 50% of the value of the vehical.
