Looks like it's a few years old - but this popped up on iPlayer the other night and I thoroughly enjoyed it

I like to think so. Music is - for me - the broadest church and the most subjective, so if you've got a musical mind then all avenues are open no matter what the genre.

The best personal example I can give is that I really don't like Country & Western music, but that doesn't stop me from admiring the technical ability of Albert Lee playing C & W guitar; he is an astonishing player.

If you enjoyed the program, a factory tour was possible last time I checked.
I used to be a supplier but I recommended a few people to have the tour and they were kindly accommodated.
Worth half a day if your around but you need to book ahead if they still offer it!

Reminded me that I need to get my AFD-100 head up there to have the Fx loop fixed.
Might see if I can get a tour in whist I'm waiting - would they do that ?

Give them a call and ask to see the museum and the tour.
They have one of the guys that's been there from the start that handles it.
Highlight is a one string Encore or similar that is used to signal check every amp that's been through the factory for years!

They have a full gig venue on site where they handle competitions etc.
Worth asking. Mass volume is now done in China, high end kit and the stage walls here in U.K.

Also ask if you may collect a copy of the Jim Marshall biography signed by his son, who is quite reclusive I believe.

Oddly, I always associate Townshend with Hi-Watt amps. And Hendrix once turned up at a gig to find that Orange had set up a backline for him, hoping that he'd give it a try. Hendrix was delighted, because his Marshall's were giving him so much trouble. But they're always going to be THE name for amps - mentioned in Sonic Youth's "Teen Age Riot", and gave their name to a Blue Oyster Cult song ("The Marshall Plan").
