Ford gearbox diff discontinued and car less than 10 years ol
Discussion
Looking for some advice on a Ford problem!
The Mrs has a 2007 Ford C-Max, 2.0 petrol auto.
It's had a vibration when accelerating and after some investigation a gearbox specialist has diagnosed a gearbox differential bearing as failing.
Ford first told us the part was on back order but it's now been four weeks and they tell us it's discontinued.
As the car is less than 10 yrs old it's really surprising.
There's no pattern part and the one on the car can't be repaired.
Ford are utterly hopeless in dealing with the issue!
The car is disability adapted for my wife and it's now been off the road for weeks.
I thought a manufacturer had to maintain a parts supply for so long?

Has the repair centre got the number off of the bearing ?
Then try these people.

Nothing to do with me, just found them very helpful. There are other bearing people via Google etc.

Is there not some EU legislation where car makers must supply parts to all vehicles less than 10 years old ?
Of course...they dont specify at what cost etc.
Might just be as handy to buy a used box or something if you cant get the parts elsewhere. But bearings are usually generic...although sometimes gearbox related bearings dont fall into that category. But they will have part numbers on them to search for.
