My driver's side sun visor is missing, including the plastic mount on the driver's door side (just a threaded mounting pin sticking out of frame about windscreen). Not had any job sourcing an original TVR visor but have read that Ford Capri visors work. Wondering if anyone has done this and which model Capri they need to come from? I've contacted a Ford parts supplier who has said they can supply visors but need to know which model. Any pointers gratefully received.

Cheers

Thanks - mine is a 98 450. Would be good to find one that fits. Was just thinking of putting some tinted film across the top of the screen but I think that might be an MOT failure now...

2nd hand from Douglas Valley Breakers? - 01257 424695 or TVR Glen oop north? - 01670 330313

If you put the tinted strip on, put shorter wiper blades on so the swept area is not compromised for the MOT then change it back afterwards wink

Granted, it would look god awful. Which takes me back to original question, is there a tried and tested beta alternative to the original visor, which I believe is TVR specific? I might give the breakers a bell and see what's what.

Definitely from a Capri. From memory, the later ones are the same shape but different finish/pattern

Ford Escort Mark 2, I fitted a used pair from an Escort a few weeks ago to my 1999 Chim. The fit was perfect, only the surface of the Ford pieces are somewhat rougher than on the original Chim ones. And, both my Chim and the donor Escort are LHD vehicles.

Do you need sun visors to pass an MOT then?

I may have a spare driver's side one in the garage, it is all black. I'll have a look for you later.

No. But if fitted on the driver's side must not drop down and block the view i.e. must be stowable.
