5.1 surround-sound speaker system with wireless rears?
Discussion
I've been looking into this for ages now, and although you would think it would be a farily easy and popular option it seems this is not the case.
You can kinda do it with a sonos soundbar, then have a Sub and use 2 play1s as your rears, infact you could use play3 or 5 if you have the cash, I listened to this setup John Lewis the other week and it sounded very good, but its in the 1000's. Bose do a similar setup now with a soundbar and wirless rears. I want a good elegant setup and it should not have to cost over £1k but its a struggle. Philips used to do one that had battery powered rears, you just picked them up off fronts and placed them behind you, i liked that idea as wireless is never wireless but i dont think they make it anyomre. Be interested to see what you find

I'm looking for something similar. As already posted above, Phillips do a soundbar called Fidelio b5 where the ends detach to be used as completely wireless rears. It doesn't seem to be made anymore though. Phillips also do a full 5.1 system - search for Phillips zenit 5.1. I can't find any reviews though.
I also tried a KEF universal wireless system from eBay which was DOA unfortunately but would have worked well.
I can't believe there are so few options for this either. Good luck!

Interesting topic as I am also looking for something along these lines.
E5 Looks nice but have never been a huge Philips fan and I do like the idea of occasional surround.
Sony looks nice but you still need power to the rears, which could be an issue for needs.

If you can't provide power and can't provide a speaker cable then you are stuck with batteries that will need replacing or recharging at some point.
Any particular reason you can't have wired speakers? The difference in price between wired and wireless at present the money saved going for wired you could pay for somebody to lay the cable under the carpet/flooring and still save money.

Samsung K950 Soundbar might work for you.
Atmos support, rear wireless speakers. The sound is pretty amazing, so is the price tag.
