relocating + Money etc

Not sure what section to post this in as could go in a few .
But please move if feel it needs to be.

Just after some advice really, to cut a long story short recently I have ended up unemployed.
But close family in Lincolnshire have had a kid and I would like to relocate to be closer to them ( I am in Kent currently).

So could anyone give me advice on best way to do this? I would assume get job first then try to rent a house even get some benefit help until settled then move into own place ?

As said jsut after advice of how is best way to do this and thought fellow phers would be able to help or have experience
