Cam cover splash guards
Discussion
Afternoon,
Had my cam covers powder coated, in order to do so I removed the splash guard on the inside - stops blasting media hiding in hard to reach places.
It is a thin flat piece of metal that in theory directs oil back onto the cams - although I don't know where else the oil is going to go... and prevents oil being splashed directly into the breather hose pipe.
The TIG welder will heat the cover to such a point where the new paint will melt - not ideal...
It is held on by what looked like 4 rivets, but the rivet was a peg which was part of the casting with the head mushroomed over.
Do I actually need the splash guard ?
Would JB weld high heat work ?
I had thought about trying to tap a thread and screw them into place with thread locker but a small screw bounding around your cams will make a mess.
Could you drill a hole, place a rivet into the hole and then have it expand and "lock" itself in the hole ?
Thanks
