my pic's gone in outlook

Recently the emails I get with photos imbeded in them are not displaying the photos.

Nothing dodgy, just annoying when I get misco etc emails and I have to click out to the web to see if its of interest.

What do I need to 'unclick'?

Tools > Options > Security > Download Pictures

There is a reason behind this and it's to stop spam/viruses.

Lots of pictures have tracking codes in them so that companies can tell when they are being looked at. Most of the time this is pretty harmless but some spammers use this tactic to tell that the email was sent to an active address and you'd be up for more junk mail in the future. By hiding the pics you remain anonamous to these parties.

There is also now a growing trend to hide viruses within pictures.
