It's never been released on DVD but John Frankenheimer's widow I believe is trying to get it released.

Not yet available unfortunately. Why it hasn't been released up to now is a bit of a mystery. It's one film that would definitely benefit from the full widescreen treatment.

I have seen pirate DVD & video copies on Ebay - obviously not sure of the quality though. The film is a lot like 'Le Mans'. Great, until the talking starts, the acting in 'Grand Prix' is very hammy but the car sequences are second to none. Keep an eye out on TCM (Sky channel 327), I've seen it on there twice !

TCM show it fairly frequently. Ted Turner, who owns TCM, also owns the MGM back catalogue.

I don't think the acting is that bad at all. Yves Montand and James Garner are pretty good actors as is Brian Bedford. It gets a bit stilted when the non English speaking actors open their mouths, particularly the Barlini and Ferrari team manager's parts.

thanks guys, much appreciated,

guess i'll just have to be patient. got 'le mans' for christmas, hadnt seen it before, i thought it was a cracking film. the noises were great and that crash sequence was very realistic..

cheers
