Bit of context, as part of my business I wrote and sold an eBook through my website. The eBook is for a very niche market with small numbers of sales per year, the eBook sold for £37.50 and I was quite happy with the numbers of sales and price as it led to upselling personal coaching in the particular field the eBook was aimed at, much more lucrative.

I used DesktopAuthor to design and write the eBook and their DRM involved an activation key which I emailed when a customer bought the eBook from my site, using Paypal. It was designed for Windows users only, very easy and hassle free, Happy days!

Sadly DTA seems to have gone out of business and I can no longer access their site, DRM site or anything to do with them. I have had, as a result, to stop selling the eBook and my choice is either just to forget it or take the opportunity to rewrite the eBook for tablets (which is probably a good thing as I have been getting more and more requests for a tablet version for over two years, so I needed this kick up the butt!).

I have researched that Apple iBooks store provides the best means of doing this, giving 70% of any sales back to me no matter what the price. (Amazon appears to be only 35% if the eBook sells for over £9.99). I intend to sell it at the same price point and see how it goes over the next 12 month.

So I have used Apple iBook Author and brought the eBook up to date and am going through final review and draft now. My intention is to sell it on the Apple iBooks store for iPad and other Apple users.

I understand that I have to get a USA Tax number before I can sell, I have no idea how to pay or manage USA taxes but I presume they will make it easy?

Anyway, before I press the upload button I am just asking if anybody else has gone down this route at all, and if so any pitfalls to watch for or suggestions please?

Thanks in anticipation.
