As part of the S Club heaven day, I want to raffle off some donated prizes for a good cause. Question is with so many charities which one do we choose?

Can we have some suggestions for suitable/worthy causes then we can have a vote.

Thanks

Mike

Any deserving charities local to Silverstone? May be a way to drum up a bit more local interest with a presentation at the end of the meet.

My vote goes to Small Cell Lung Cancer research.

Lots is done on None Small Cell but not on Small Cell and its a more agressive cancer.

PS...whats being raffled?

I think a cancer related charity is favourite as lots of people seem to have been affected by this in some indirect way. Lets see what people want as a local charity might also be a good idea, any local lads want to put something forward? Just had a thought, how about we buy some presents for a local orphanage? Or ask if they need anything with a view to raising enough money to buy it?? How does this sound?

The raffle will hopefully include car related prizes, not sure what right now I have some ideas just depends whether people will donate or not.........!Leave it with me and I will update as we go along? Once I have an idea of prizes I will be looking for volunteers to go to car club meets and sell tickets? Any volunteers?

What about a hospice local to Silverstone? Maybe get some publicity in one of the local rags, may persuade some of the locals that we are not a hairy ar£ed bunch of ne'er do wells. May go someway to asuage any animosity that could come our way after the hoon, especially from any WPC's

How about a local kids charity.....I would personally be up for giving a few disadvantaged youngsters a TVR experience. Things like this last for a long time in kids memories. I can contact the local Social Services if its thought to be a good idea
Just a thought....
PS Silverstone TVR would be very supportive I'm sure.

Excellent idea mate, I had thought to do something similar in offering rides to people for say £10 and donating the money to the charity but thought it difficult to organise. This is another take and in my opinion an excellent idea I for one would be willing to give the kids a blast. I guess we could do the following:

Arrange for the kids, either from an orphange/Social Services etc... to come on the day and give them all a ride in a TVR of their choice! Then having earlier found out if there is anything they need, ie a playframe for the garden etc we can then donate the proceeds from our raffle or the item to them from the proceeds.

Whichever route we take I would like every one of us to sell raffle tickets to family, friends at work,etc.... so the more of us involved the more money we will be able to donate. If we get 50 people to sell raffle tickets and each of us raise just £50 each that is £2500 which is serious money. I personally will donate £50 to start this off and will aim to raise at least £250 myself so theres a good start come on peeps its for a great cause.

This I feel is the best option so far and this certainly gets my vote.

Who else likes this idea?
