Childs car seat in a classic.

I would very much like to fit a car seat in the back of the newly acquired Rover.

Huntsman Junior is 13 months, 13kgs.

Clearly a P6 does not have ISO fix!

Not sure what, if any, rear belts there are.

Thoughts?

Are there any seatbelts installed in the rear?

Our 1981 T25 camper only has lap belts at the rear so when my son was younger he would sit up front in a Britax seat with me. We also had a three point belt on a rear facing seat, so my daughter generally sat there with a booster and wife with a lap belt on the rear bench seat.

Not the safest overall, but a fair compromise and a generally peaceful journey as my son would just sleep.

There are plenty of aftermarket kits around. All the car will need is some spreading plates and fixings welding in and away you go.

if you can weld or know someone who can its a relatively easy job. I think all the dimensions you need can be found in demon tweaks etc

There will/should already be rear seatbelt mounting points in a P6 because I am pretty sure they were a period option. If that's the case, even if there aren't belts now, it will be a doddle to fit them. All you have to do is source suitable belts. I reckon it will take you an hour all in.
For cars that don't already have mounting points or a later design for them that you can replicate, it is best to go to the experts. I have used Quickfit SBS on my Elan +2 and Interceptor Mk1 and both times they came up with an attractively period, reassuringly well engineered set ups.

Agreed, I did exactly that in my Triumph Toledo. I bought the isofix mount for an Audi A4 and bolted it through the floor with a spreader plate on the underside. I actually put mine in the middle of the rear seat to be furthest from the side in case of any side impact.....

P6s are definitely seat-belt ready. I've just had some fitted in my 2200 and they bolt straight in. I understand you sometimes need to run a tap down the hole to clear the paint/crud out, but the holes are there.

Yep. P6s certainly have rear seat belt mountings. Just another example of how well thought out they were.

So have you done this to the TA14, Jonathan? I just have 4 point harnesses in the S turbo so quite easy to strap the seat but better now his shoulders are wide enough to stop slipping through.
