Hey all,

Long time viewer, first time poster. I moved home recently to start saving for a house and, as Its closer to public transport, my beloved 123d is going unused for much of the week. Given that it's sitting there being wasted I've decided to look to move it on while it's still worth some money. Most of me still doesn't agree with the decision!

I'll be looking to take advantage of the low GBP/EUR rate and buy a car from NI or mainland GB. Budget is roughly £3-3.5k. I'm looking for something that's fun, petrol, can't be too slow, oldest age is 2008 & that won't cost me a stupid amount of money over the next 2 years to maintain. One main problem I face is that Irish road tax is a rip-off so the car's Co2 emissions needs to be less than 170 otherwise it's just not worth. Sadly this rules out a Swift Sport.....

Shortlist so far is as follows:

207 gt/gti - quick enough to entertain me and decently spec'd but I'm somewhat concerned about possible electrical problems and the fact the it shares it's engine with the R56 Mini Cooper S. Early engines were a nightmare, does anyone know if these cars were as badly effected or was this solved by the time the 08/09s were produced? Any other info about living with these cars would be greatly received.

Renaultsport Twingo - seriously intrigued by these. Heard a few things about the interior not being great but I don't think it'd would bother me too much. Size doesn't bother me, ha a cooper S for a year and I've access to a bigger car if needed. Does anyone on here use one of these as a daily and is there anything that i should look out for?

Astra sport hatch 1.6 - this is the sensible side of me's choice after I randomly drove one last week and was better than I expected. Don't think I'd enjoy it anywhere near as much as the above two though so it's a backup option right now.

Any one else have any other suggestions?

Cheers,

Andy
