Higher wattage bulb for reversing light

Hi all, I'd like to put a higher wattage bulb in the reversing light. My drive is a nightmare to reverse into at night and almost scrapped the side last night in the rain while reversing. Any wattage bulbs recomended? Is this possible? Has anyone done it?

Do the modern rear clusters have 2 reversing lights, or just the one?

The reversing light is singular in the later cars, switching on the fog is a good idea. As far as bulbs go the fitment is the standard 21w bulb (same as the indicator bulb)I have never come across a higher rated equivalent, tho' sadly.

Ok thanks guys. Fog light is a good one, suppose hazzards might provide an extra bit of light as well.

Another option for you to consider is putting a light on the drive, in a fashion that it doesn't blind you while reversing.

Find something like an internal room uplighter, and turn it 90 degrees clockwise so its shining on the wall, and not in your face as you're checking your mirrors. It would have to be waterproof, but you could buy an external lamp and modify it easily to do exactly the same.

You can get IR switches for them as well, dirt cheap, so its not always using electricity.
