I currently own a MK2 Elise and am thinking of getting a TVR- either a 98-99 Chimera or 97 Griff. I've had no problems with my elise and was wondering what might be the best option to go for of these two- if any difference. I fancy the V8 and the better reliability (rather than the S6)- am I expecting too much to get a Griff/Chim of this age and not have any (many) problems....??
as this is a chim section buy a chim.....
your going to buy a tvr there are always hicks up with them, some examples I have had my chim for 8 months now. no probs for 6 months then 3 in a week all simple a little buy annoying but it goes with the territory
Iam sure alot will say the same, they are fantastic cars and yes buy a blue V8 the are the fastest so every one says

A 98-99 Chimera or 97 Griff are pretty much the same car at those years arn't they? As I understand it the chassis and suspension are the same, so it mainly comes down to which one you prefer the look of and if you want a 5L griff or a 4.5L or 5L chimaera.
Like you point out you'll probably get a newer chimarea for the same money and there are more to choose from.
After some thought I decided I actually prefered the chimaera, especially as I could get a newer car for the same cash at the time I bought mine.
5L ones aparentely feel a lot faster, I've not been in one though and the 4.5L I have feels pretty quick to me.
Aircon (gets fairly warm in the cabin without it) and full leather would be nice options to look out for.
