I want to fit a top hinged window to my kitchen to create a serving hatch and bar on the other side for use in summer.

But I've called my local window fitters and no-one does them. Can anyone recommend a company to source this from?

Couple of pics to show what I'm looking for, just the window.

Velux do top hinged Windows, don't know if they would be suitable or wide enough though.

Just get a side opening one and turn it through 90°.
You can then add some gas rams and bracketry to suit, once you know the weight.

Doubt it would conform to building Regs, but does that matter in this instance ?

I'm sure a local joiner could make something suitable from a hardwood.

As above, it's a very simple job for a joinery company.

Bog standard flush casement window with some gas struts. Find a decent local joinery.

SGS do some nice 316 stainless steel struts....

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll investigate something custom made by a joiner.

Amazon also have a wide range of Gas Struts. They are cheap enough (£2-3) that you can buy a few for trial and error to get the right strength.

Worked very well for me in sorting out some nice big wooden toy boxes!

Thanks for the link, just gave them a call and salesperson is going to find out if the top swing window can be opened a full 90 degrees. Is that the model you went for? Did you add some struts yourself?

The window construction would allow for 90 degree opening - mine goes to 45 on the standard hinges. But could be easily modified to suit your requirements.

Just a thought - if you leave it open when raining, where will the cascade of water go? The ones above appear to be under a canopy or building overhang...

I would recommend making it from Accoya if going down the wooden route.

Get in touch with me if you want any further information, I can recommend a Joinery firm that would be able to do this with all associated hardware.

I could also look into an aluminium version for you!

Were you able to sort this out? I have found myself on the same search, with no success...

Speak to a local joinery firm.

Andrew Jaynes in Kent is who I would be asking, they have an in house spray shop so finish can be bespoke.

Hi i'm new to this forum so hope the original enquirer will see this. We have exactly the same requirement for a flip out kitchen window. What was the outcome to this post. Was the product available in the UK?

any standard upvc window can be top hinged, to 90 degrees if neccessary, the trick will be keeping it up although there should be some solution for that too.

Little blue pills help with that.

You might get a better response ignoring the retail window outlets, and approaching an architectural window supplier (or commercial glazing)?
