As I'm lightly renovating the cerb this winter I've noticed the near side manifold is hitting the chassis on the square part of the rail, can this be bent back in situation or will I risk cracking it?. It's not hitting it at the moment only when you take corners sharp, the gearbox mounts look a bit ropey so I guess this could allow for a bit of movement on the engine side of things.

The gearbox mounting is very slightly adjustable (elongated holes) which will allow you a bit of wiggle room to get the manifolds nicely centered in the chassis. If it's gone soggy it is likely the cause, fit a new one and get it all centered correctly and your problem will be solved.

I wouldn't risk trying to bend the manifold in situ. Instead loosen engine mounts and gearbox mounts, and lever the engine around slightly.
