Here's a question for you all. Say - hypothetically speaking - you're planning to restore your car. Does having a choice of chassis coating colour matter to you? Not the method or product used, just the option of choosing the colour or not.

Cheers.

I've voted yes, not that I'm "fussy" but I wouldn't want white or black or blue or green or yellow or orange or purple or........

scratchchin So just pink then? biggrin

What's wrong with purple, anyway? It's better than Russet!

And if it's going to be used off-road, how about camouflage or khaki?

If you were to sell your car on after a full body lift restoration, then a light coloured chassis either white or silver etc will show a potential buyer any areas where the powder coat has broken down and not be blasted with waxoyl and after time road muck impregnates the clear waxoyl to hide this.

There was a pic on here a while ago of a chassis that had been re-done in purple with matching clips, zip ties etc. I loved it but seemed to be in the minority!

I didn't want to say pink, because gender-equality these days. That said, purple's not exactly macho is it?

Dammit! Done it again! laugh

I'm all in favour of having a chassis painted in a different colour so long as it bears some relationship to the bodywork. For example a 'signal blue' chassis with a Chimaera in Viper Blue would look great.

You don't happen to have any pic's of an example around the workshop do you?

I like the red chassis on the S. It is a contrast to the green bodywork. I quite like the glimpse of the red chassis, outriggers for example. It shows that the TVR has a tubular chassis rather than one of those new fangled monocoques.

That's what I asked earlier Poley! Surely it's the colour of choice for discerning hot- blooded macho PHers?

And remember the classic Smoke on the Water?

I rest my case. judge

It matters, in as much as, as long as it doesn't clash..

I silver/white isn't the only colour it could be! Bright is cool.. Subtle is just as valid.

Right, I've changed my mind. Still a big yes, but dropping the metal flake candy apple and going with bright glossy red.... I think...
