96 993 targa WITH 18" ALLOYS ON 265/35/18S (REAR)

Would like to put different size tyres on for a better ride as its too hard, if I increase the profile up to say 45 will they scrape on the arches??

To improve your ride you would be better off changing to 17" wheels.

Matt....

you need to downsize to 17" which is the only way.. on 255/40/17 corrected ! my typing !

18's only suit 285/30/18 (ouch!) or what you have in 265/35/18

anything else, the tyres are unlikely to be porsche rated...

although if you down down-size are these wheels for sale ? as I'm looking to supersize !

265/35/18 is about as large as you want to go on the narrow bodied 993.
If you squeeze a 45 profile under there, surely the speedo will then be out....they may touch the arches also depends on the condition of your springs,,you can have the arches rolled.

Any set of tyres on a Porsche should match and ideally have the same N number,,,,if I saw a 993 for sale and it had 45 profile rear tyres on it I wouldn't touch it, for fear of what else the owner had compromised on the car. Even the wobbly Targa is some form of sportscar and should be shod accordingly.
As stated 17" is the way to go for comfort (except for Melv's).
