My S3c is still hibernating!!????

Winter in Holland was very hard this year. Three weeks ago we had the coldest day of te century and the roads were covered with salt. This weekend, after some weeks of rain, I hat a moment of pure joy when the sun broke through the clouds.
So happily I went to my parents place, to take my S3c out of their garage and go for a ride.
Then my joy turned into deep sadness when I found out that my car wasn't as happy as I was when out on the roads. It seemed to have lost HALF its power!!
I don't know if it was running on all cilinders, but the engine sounded a little rougher than usual.
Is this phenomena of the 'Hibernating S' known to you? Has anyone an idea of what it could be?
I checked the compression of my car 2 months ago and took it for a short drive then and noticed nothing special.

Did you leave the handbrake on whilst laid up ,if so the rear brakes might be stuck on

Nope, and I was able to push the car by hand. But it indeed did feel like the handbrake was on.
