So i've seen a Specialized venge pro (2016) with some 1250 off with full dura ace kit bar the cranks, its a full aero bike and am so tempted to click the BUY button on the Specialized because of the money off but i'm a bianchi person usually and have found a oltre xr1 with ultegra for 2100..

Not only does the oltre seem more sensible, would i really noticed that much difference between the Specialized than the Oltre? Based purely on looks the Oltre looks nicer but the Specialized has far superior kit on it and is within my means.. I cant really find any reviews of the 2016 Venge Pro but the Oltre is a 4.5/5 bike based on handling, weight, aero etc.

I've also been looking at the Cervelo S3 but it kinda doesnt 'look' that right to me either, even though its an accomplished bike.. Additionally a non aero contendor the Cannondale SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod dura ace is for sale and looks to be really good value for money and a high scorer in tests..

Some input would be gratefully received as to what alternatives there are out there..

The Oltre will have lower quality carbon so heavier but unless you are a pro, not sure if you'd feel the difference! The geo will be the same as the pro level oltre 4

Love both but i'd go for the Oltre personally based on looks and i'm a we for italian bikes.

How much is the Venge?

Venge pro is 5k down to 3750 - seems bargainous, just doesnt have the same panache as a Bianchi.. !

I do too. I'm just toying with the idea of buying a di2 frame and swapping the bits from my Ultimate SLX frame onto it. If I do I'll pick the frame up from the factory so I can pay in euros and get it a little cheaper. It wouldn't be a special journey to go pick it up, I'm off to see the sister in law next month and I need to drive past Koblenz.

forget the kit for a moment and just think what you would like riding more.

I've always hankered after a turquoise blue bianchi, but now I'm seeing things like wilier and de rosa I keep making excuses to increase the budget.

I'm collecting a Propel Advanced SL (with the integrated seat post and Ultegra di2) on Saturday woohoo It's a 2017 model so I'm paying full price (£4.3k), but I got a real-world c.£550 to spend on accessories (pedals, cages, bottles, HR monitor, direct-drive turbo and mudguards for another one of my bikes) so my man-maths makes that less than £4k tongue out

Check with the Specialized dealer but in the autumn they recalled the Venge ViAS S-Works and Pro due to problems with the rear brake, causing wheels to come out of the drops out and fracture the rear triangle.

This won't help you much, I love my Propel but it is the one up from the base model, retailed for £1600 nearly two years ago. At the time I demo'd one that was £2.5k, which was easily the nicest bike I have ever ridden. It had 105 but better carbon in the frame, and way better wheels than mine; I very nearly went for it and stuck the extra on the credit card but got cold feet after sleeping on it.
