Best place for 'pool car' insurance
Discussion
It depends on a number of things (not one for us by the way).
The most cost effective would be to insure it in a directors or company owners name, with any driver, but making sure the insurer is aware of who owns (or is responsible for the lease) the car.
one you get to three vehicles the world of mini fleet insurance (commercial not the multicar policies) is your friend.
for the single car NFU are very aggressive on pricing at the minute

I've just gone through this exact scenario myself. No point trying the 'ordinary' car insurance market your best bet is to get on to a decent broker (check google and go for the ones that look more commercial than domestic) and explain what you need.
I ended up with (through a broker) fully comp insurance any driver over 25 with really low excesses with a company called RSA for less than £700 for a £25k value car. Other quotes all more than £1000.

The good advice on this thread may no longer be quite so good. I have had a DS3 leased pool car insured in my company's name with Royal & Sun Alliance through Jelf in Evesham (which has now become A-Plan) with 6 years no claims and 5 named drivers, all over 30 years old. Last year's premium was £494 but this year RSA has quoted £922, an increase of 86%. I'm looking into other insurers and that lead me to this thread. The renewal offer from RSA this year had the full list price of the car as new stated on the policy document (£19k) even though it is now 2 years old. After a quick search on the usual used car web sites, this was adjusted to £10k which brought the renewal premium down by a staggering (wait for it...) £27.03 including legal cover, yes just £27, so I will be continuing my search for comparison quotes. The market changes but there still seems to be just a few insurers offering pool car policies and information is hard to come by on the web.
Since first posting: We have reduced the number of drivers to 4 and our broker has come back saying that brings in another insurer, Zurich, who can offer a quote of £795.10 so at least another option.
Final Update: Came across More Th>n Business via another Google search and have gone with them. Annual Premium inc IPT is £676.50 with four named drivers, max 7,000 miles pa and £100 excess (increasing voluntary excess did not reduce premium significantly so not worth doing). Ironically the policy is underwritten by none other than RSA!
