Hi guys,
I'm stripping the car down for a chassis refurb and I'm wondering how I remove the alarm siren bracket that's mounted down just behind the radiator on the passenger side. I can't see access from the headligth access panel in the wheel arch, and I can't get a spanner on the back of the mounting bolts thru the 4cm diameter wiring grommet. I've also looked at going in through the front grill but I'm never going to get my arm in there.

I think I need to make a special spanner to go through the grommet hole but it doesn't feel like a nut on the back, is it an 8mm headed nut the same as the frontside? Of it is supposed to be a captive nut?
Thanks

The siren is on a bracket. You just need to loosen the nut on either side of the siren and slide it out. Leave the bracket where it is. The siren should just unplug.
The rad removal is slightly more challenging. If you have a bad back then don't bother as you will have when you've finished.

I've already removed the siren from the bracket, it really doesn't look like there's enough room to remove the rad without removing the bracket. Are you saying it's possible with the bracket still in place?

Think you may struggle without removing the brackets. Suggest you grind off the head of the bolts (they have washers and nuts on the headlight void side). Then refix the bracket using rubber well nuts and new hardware. Of course the nuts end will fall into the void and can be gotten with a magnet via the wheel arch access panel, or left till you next need to remove headlight. Pics available if needed.
Take opp to remake a new s/s bracket if the old one is flaking/rusting.

Headlight void side - nuts may well be rusted on.

Lower head ground off

Rubber well nits in place

Bracket installed

Excellent thanks, the bracket is in good order and I have a larger hole for the wire to use with a specially made spanner, I'm not worried if the nuts fall into the void, I'll find a better way to reattach later. At least I know if I make an 8 mm spanner I have a chance of removing them, and if not I'll just have to cut them off, cheers

I had the same problem when I replaced my Radiator last year. I removed the siren and bracket completely. When the rad was installed and all connected up, it was very difficult to replace the bracket / siren. It did not go back in the original place, but was placed where I could squeeze it in.
