We're going to be moving house very soon and as yet we've not decided on the layout of the room but need to plaster walls and put floors down so I was thinking of a wireless HDMI setup. The audio will obviously be getting sent to an amp and the picture will be going to a projector and my TV.

Anyone had any experiences with this sort of thing who could give a bit of advice and ratings.

No I havent tried it, but Epsom actually have it built into some of thier projectors as an option. On thier website they even claim Enhanced 4k capability, which is actually thier psudo 4K presentation and not actually native 4K.

As a side, There are plenty of native 4k one coming very soon, but currently on Sony has ones anything close to acceptable residential prices.

But I have to comment, that if you don't currently know the layout of the room, how are you even able to configure the speaker points and incoming tv services? You either need some clever planning, out of the box thinking, a very good installer/designer or some flags in the ground as soon as possible.

Just to echo the possibilities with Epson projectors: a chap I know who is very into films mentioned he had one and it worked a treat smile
Considering one for our lounge...although we are perhaps 6-12 months off detailed plans on that job!

If you've yet to plaster I'd seriously consider where you will want to place equipment and run cable while you have the best opportunity. Wireless technology is rarely as good as wired.

When I did mine I built in 2 HDMI cables to the locations I thought I might use. You can even coil the lose cable behind the plaster and leave it until if/when you need it. It's not future proof (You could put in ducting if you wanted to) but I've tried various wireless displays and they're not 100% by any means. Wireless HDMI may be better but I suspect not perfect.

Yes that's what Ive done. A 5 meter HDMI cable behind the walls that will eventually plug into sockets so I can plug another 1-2m to each end to connect to the equipment.

Thanks

If it's still possible get some CAT 6 in there.

How do you think people who plastered HDMI into a wall five years ago are managing to get 4K down it now? Bearing in mind the specs have changed and will only continue to do so as things move forward

I don't expect to be living there too long. It's a cottage attached to our huge barn, we're converting the barn into a 7 bed house and will rent the whole site out once finished. The cottage is ours until the work is done.
