So angry need advice about work
Discussion
I just need to post this to help vent. So angry over this.
Today in work I was sent an email asking for myself and two others to attend a "meeting" tomorrow morning. I hear from behind me one of the girls who is 21 giggling away and passing notes to others. It was clear I was being spoken about. I went to speak to the manager whom had sent me the email and I was informed that this girl and another older 37 year old woman had been making a scene at a staff meeting in regards to various issues. Basically I've been dragged into all this because at that meeting the 21 year old big mouth girl stated that some had been told by management to take their jackets off at hometime and work an extra 30 minutes as it was busy. I was one of those workers asked to stay. I as usual said yes no problem and went back to work. Not a big deal. This was before xmas and I had thought nothing else of it.
Upper management were angry that she had spoken this way in the meeting (I was not at this meeting) and they went to lower management (public service job) to ask about this. The 21 year old was confronted and found out to be lying and that it was not even her that was asked to stay. She then proceeded to drop my name and the other girls name into it and that we had asked her to bring it up at the meeting. Which is 100% lies.
My manager simply stated that she had dropped me and another worker in it and that was why I have been asked to attend this meeting. I was told I had nothing to worry about and that the management know she is lying. I was informed they pretty much want her to admit to it all in front of us and I will be asked if I had asked her to speak on my behalf etc. I was livid.
I've never been in trouble at work in my life. I was in the military and as a grown man in my 30's I don't need some silly little girl to go asking questions for me. During a weekly meeting this morning, my manager had mentioned how these two girls had started really mouthing off at that big meeting to the bosses and myself and two others said that her opinions did not reflect what we believe and that we had no complaints and are happy in our jobs, she made other allegations about how we are treated.
This girl is notorious around the office for being two-faced and turning on people. I'm just the latest victim sadly. The main point of worry for me is that I am on a temporary contract within this public service job and I'm really worried I will be fired for something I've not even said nor done. I was assured by management that it is not me that needs to worry about keeping my job. Though I do still worry. The meeting is between 9 and 10am. I'm just sat here wondering what to do?
She has been in trouble before for bullying a fellow worker and she was behind complaints about others to try and get them fired last year. She is a very nasty piece of work. As normal, I turn to my powerfully built CEO's of Pistonheads.
Any help would be wonderful.

Sleep on it. From an objective position it seems like you're over reacting, by quite a lot if I'm honest, although that's possibly just the way you are writing just now.
Take a step back and chill a bit. As for the meeting, just tell the truth. Don't get angry as it will not come across well.
Don't over think it and don't talk too much. Also don't react with anger or aggression if you're accused of lying. Just state the facts calmly.
You're a 30 something man in your own words, don't stoop to her level.
i am failing to see why you would be fired, to be honest it's not really clear what the issue is from your first post.

Not sure why you're angry. Sounds like they just want you to be a witness before disciplining the child.
Sounds like they may want you to give them some factual evidence against this girl so they can start the disciplinary process against her.Could put you in a better light with management and be in your favour.
That's how I would approach it.
Sounds like you're just in the meeting to give evidence. Just state the facts "I was asked to help out for an extra half hour during a busy period for the company, at no point did I say xxx to her"
Finish with a pop at her about how she's wasted everyone's time.
Don't forget you're older and more mature, so don't get tempted to argue with her. Management will see straight through her, and chances are there will be an empty seat in the office on Monday morning.

Having read through what the OP has said - relax, you don't have anything to lie about. As someone else has said, just remain calm and explain what has happened. Stick to the facts
I worked late, she did not, I have never asked anyone to raise any objection on my behalf at a meeting.
That's all there is to it.
All done and dusted now and she was verbally brought down with a bump. Had also been caught in other lies. Just a nasty devious twisted little girl. I was only brought to the meeting to confirm a few things. I even got to leave the meeting half way through so the bosses could speak to her. No idea if she is getting fired. Most want her gone. Think of a chav with big mouth.
