A car has been left in one of the parking spaces on my property where I work. I only have 6 spaces so it is a real pain in the backside. It has been there a week now. It is taxed.
Police not interested.
We have left a note on the windscreen requesting its removal. As we have no signs up regarding clamping etc

What are the options to get rid of it.

get a 4x4 or truck and drag it off your land.

The Police are pretty much powerless when it comes to abandoned cars on private land. It's down to the land owner to remove the vehicle.

Read through this.. https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q441.htm

I don't think there is much you can do legally.
You could try and get the keeper details from the DVLA then invoice them?

https://www.gov.uk/request-information-from-dvla

Was the note you put on the car taken and read or is it still there?

Abandoned vehicles are the responsibility of the Council, even when on private land.

Someone posted a link to the actual legislation when I had a similar problem. Of course, sadly not all Councils accept they are responsible!

tell the police it has a suspicious looking package in it and some swarthy bearded gentlemenr left it saying something about Alan's Snackbar.

I bet you'd have more police there than yuo could shake a stick at in no time, alternatively remove the valve cores of all the tyres - feck em

We use our forklift and dump them in the road. They don't stay there very long.

Yup we do that, I know its not that legal, but hey I can turn the CCTV off :P

We did move a loan car from a garage once, that did not go down well.

Legislation is here

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1978/3/section...

But has it been "abandoned" or is the owner just a knob who leaves his car in other people's car parks for a fortnight while he goes on holiday? If it's taxed and is not obviously falling to pieces then you might have trouble persuading the council to treat it as abandoned - especially as they won't be too enthusiastic about removing it from private land in the first place.

Remove valve cores then

"look Mr Council person, it has been abandoned for a while, see the tyres are flat"

I could imagine the other party as a PH thread "Help I parked legally as there were no restrictions in place and a forklift has damaged my car by moving it, How many trillions could I sue for?"

We had a car left next to my workshop, broken door lock and steering lock, hotwired, even used syringes on the back seat!!!! to my amazement the cops were not interested as it was not reported stolen.
We jacked it up and pushed it(Wearing gloves) into the road,it soon got moved.

Is it obviously abandoned? Old, rough looking thing or does it look parked with intention to return? If it is not in the way then just clamp it and have words with the owner when he returns.
