39/49. I committed the ultimate gaffe too by mistaking a Spitfire for a Hurricane.

Really? You got all the obscure Czech and French made stuff and mistook one of the two pics of a Spit for a Hurricane? Impressive. hehe

40 for me too! Although it would have been less if they hadn't made some of the choices so easy on ones I didn't recognise.

42/45 Do I get a point for saying the pilot in the Hawker Tempest is Bill Humble, Grandfather of Kate Humble?

There were a few I wasn't sure of but I knew which ones they weren't from the list provided.

I'm not sure all the pictures are actually correct.

I am positive No.10 was a badly drawn Boeing P-26 and not the Mitsubishi A5M
Here's what an A5M looks like -

.

No.24 is also wrong. They have it down as a Republic P-43 which it definitely isn't. I think it is a North American P-64 (which is correctly shown earlier). The P-43 looked like this -

It's bloody clickbait so my ability to identify 1940s combat aircraft remains untested.

I once mistook a Thunderbolt for a Spitfire at an airshow - but in my defence they both have elliptical wings... and anyway, they're on the same side so no chance of hitting one by mistake.

46/49, quite pleased although it's a fairly hollow score as much of it was a process of elimination.

46/49 but I didn't take many seconds on them

Most within three or four seconds and I performed badly on two of the Japanese ones possibly for the reasons Eric has described

Click bait or not it was a fairly 'fun' few minutes

I just reached that question and can clearly see the Pea Shooter, not an A5M! The picture is very much wrong...
