Hi,

One of the rear windscreen defroster connectors has been broken on a 987 Boxster as on the photo (sorry for the bad quality).
I want to try and perhaps solder the broken bit.

Have very limited experiencing with soldering. Any tips? What bits to purchase in order to solder it?
Or perhaps there is a better more reliable way to fix it, e.g. removing the windscreen somehow prior to soldering (not sure how)?

Thanks

Looking at the picture (it's small here) i'd solder a flying lead on with a new male spade connector on it.

Get a friend who can solder to do it...

Here are better photos.

Broken connector on the windscreen:

Normal (working) connector on the opposite side of the windscreen:

And this is the actual broken bit that I am thinking to attach (solder) back to the broken connector:

You can get those connectors but you'd need to be reasonably skilled to replace one. Soldering a bit of wire on and crimping a male spade to it is easier for the beginner IMO.

Warm the glass up with a hot air gun before introducing the heat from a soldering iron.

Looking at how that has broken I would tape a spaded bit of wire to the long tab on the glass and then gently press some solder onto it and bond it in place (doing it upside down will be difficult and getting an extra pair of hands in there will be restrictive).
