Interesting programme on BBC 4

Magnificent machines , the golden age

Sitting watching this when I saw a nice Austin Healey 3000 being driven on the then new M1, reg 699 DON

So being a spanner I did the MOT history check not expecting to find anything but got a surprise

Not only is it my age at almost 56 I it's covered less than 9000 miles in all that time , I can't imagine having one of those and never driving it

the programme is well worth watching

What you forget, young sir, is that odometers of the 1960s and earlier only have five digit drums so effectively they reset every 100,000 miles.
That's not to say someone might have had to repair the instrument and lost the mileage - or someone could have clocked it. People did that, you know.

Having said that, now it's just a toy it only does just over 400 miles a year. Where's the fun in that?

I think it must have first aired a few years ago now. It's a great programme and still good to watch if there is nothing else on, but like many on BBC4, it is repeated over and over again.
