Welding bike frame

Hi, my son has an Aluminium jump bike and the frame appears to have a small crack near the head stem.
Is it generally ok to weld them up to repair the crack?

Jump bike frames are usually quite cheap,buy a new one.How would you feel if the frame snapped at the headtube causing injury.Alu tends to fail completely rather than bend like steel.

Aluminium bikes usually use tubing which is heat treated.

If you weld the crack, the frame will need to be re-heat treat to regain its original strength.

I would replace the frame if it were mine...

I've had the guys at work weld a crack at the top of the seat tube, caused by me using a too-short seatpost in an alu frame. It was fine.

Welding an alu headtube on a jump bike..... I definitely 100% wouldn't, not if the rider values his teeth/face.
