Well I finally finished the prototype this weekend of my 27512 switched bank ECU EPROM replacement for the MBE ECUs, allowing switching between two MAPS usually defined for 27256 EPROMs, and I can report back that it works - hoorah!

In the shots below I have ECU version 94110035 loaded into the lower 32K of the chip (equivalent to the standard 27256 EPROM that the MBE ECUs use) and the upper 32K of the chip loaded with ECU version 92810274

The jumper on the bottom of the prototype (think switch on dashboard here) let's you pull up, or down the uppermost address register A15, on pin 1, which switches between 1XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and 0XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and thus the different ECU program is provided

This is a good thing (TM) for example if you wanted to have one program loaded with the lower temperature engine fan kick in setting set, or one with more 'conservative' fuelling settings for getting through your MOT (think VW here...) or you wanted one with back-fire for showing you've got a snorty V8, or one to keep your neighbours on board as you drive home at night.

You get the idea...

A good buddy of mine also put together an initial PCB design layout for this, so I'l going to add a dual colour LED to allow showing on the dash which program is active so there will be two jumpers - one for the switch and one for an optional dual colour LED

China is still celebrating New Year at the moment so PCB orders are stopped and there will be a queue to get in when they start again, but the plan is to fabricate some up and then I can pass a few around to try out

Get in touch if you're interested in playing too clap

Alex
