E bay Refund mismatch
Discussion
In the past I had an incident to do with a paypal sale. I sold a computer to a guy locally who bought it via paypal. he then collected it and a few days later the paypal payment was reversed. Paypal didn't give me too much detail and I believe it was a card funding issue. However one outcome was the worrying thing that I had no seller protection as the guy had collected the item. Eventually it was resolved with the buyer paying me cash but it was obviously a problem.
I have an item for sale on e bay now at £99. It's too big and awkward to dispatch out. I clearly list the item as "cash on collection" I untick the pay now box.
Guy buys it last night around 1.30am. Pays via paypal. Sends me nice enough message about he would like to collect it asap ideally tomorrow (Tuesday).
It's a bike I've described it accurately but its something a buyer needs to see before handing dosh over. That's why it was listed as it was plus I didn't want to be in a similar situation to the one with the PC sale.
I have cancelled the sale and refunded the buyer via e bays system. I have sent him a message explaining. I have said he can gladly come and buy it and pay cash on collection as per the advert. I haven't had a reply yet. If he doesn't reply by tea time tomorrow It simply gets relisted. I'm not trying to avoid e bays fee I just don't want to risk losing the money and the item
The mismatch relates to the refund. I got £93 (net) from the buyer. The refund was £95.50 I lost £2.50p. I rang paypal who credited me manually. They couldn't explain the mismatch reason but the guy mentioned it could be card charges or something.
Just wondering if anyone has similar experiences to above.
