quick stupid question

Hi just a stupid question. Im quite new to tvr's, just checked my oil level and its quite hard to tell the level, its either dangerously low or watery (head gasket blown!!). The question is.... Is the oil top up point on the passenger side of the engine bay near the dipstick? It has a picture of an oil can but i have a 1.5" hose coming out of the cap into the induction kit? im thinkin its a cold air feed of some sorts. If this is the oil cap do you have to take this hose off first. I want to check for white gunk.

The oil can symbol confirms that this is the oil filler. Can't quite visualize it, but it sounds like what you're describing is an oil filler cap with a breather hose venting to the induction system. In that case, that is the correct place to add the oil (into the engine and not the other way into the breather pipe!).

No you dpn't have to take the hose off first, and yes that is where you put the oil.
