Having a few issues starting from warm and surging on idle, I'm sure it's running hot but not boiling, it's the first 280 I've had so I'm not sure where the needle should sit on the SW gauges. No problems when on the move.

Does it have a fuel accumulator next to the fuel pump?

Hi,
Mine is behind the rear wheel passenger side.
I had a similar issue when my 280i would stall and not restart when the engine had warmed up, turned out to be a nasty split in the air hose between the air box and the throttle body. A big piece of sticky tape fixed it till i got a replacement. Or mr zigazaga can show you what he done to delilah, brill.

Hunting (or surging) when warm was always a 'feature' of the injected Cologne motor even when new; I used to drive a Granada hearse (2.8i automatic) in the early 90s and you had to be ready with the brakes on a walking cortege otherwise the funeral Director stood a good chance of getting run over biggrin

Hi mate

Ideally after the thermostat has opened and circulated for a minute or two...I would set it at around 85 -87 degrees...Its best done with a correlating thermo probe in the header tank and a laser thermometer at the radiator.

Hope this helps
