Ok it's only moved 800 meters.
It finally has been moved to its new home in the dry from the corner of the field it was rotting for the last 13 years
Looking forward to this museum opening.

I visited the Concorde on display next to Barbados airport a couple of months ago. They've built a good quality white hangar around it with visual displays, uniforms and other artefacts.
And you can go on board to watch a video presentation. It's still pristine and smelling strongly of leather.

If you want to see a more 'live' Concorde, they've powered the cockpit and landing lights on G-AXDN at Duxford. They also do demonstrations of the nose and visor in action.

definitely a highlight of any trip to Barbados .. saw it a couple of times a few years back. If I remember correctly it wasn't particularly expensive eitherAnd you can go on board to watch a video presentation. It's still pristine and smelling strongly of leather.

We flew from LHR to JFK in June 2003 on Alpha Echo. Knew it was ilkely to be retired so provisionally booked it and when they announced the retirement a couple of days later we tried to change the date but no chance. Ended up paying for the trip for about 2 years but well worth it. FFG

I don't have many regrets in life, but having the funds and not taking the opportunity to fly on Concorde is one of them.FFG

I couldn't afford it at the time but we just borrowed some money, as it was a once in a lifetime experience.If I recall the standard flight price was around £4k pp one way. We paid around £4k for both of us one way on Concorde, return on a 747 with 4 nights at the New Yorker through BA. The provisional booking was held for 7 days (from memory) so we were very lucky as once it was announced it was to be retired the phone lines lit up and it was fully booked.
Nicholas Lyndhurst and his other half were on our flight.

The trouble with Concorde was that you just weren't in it long enough to get enough free Champagne

Acceleration when they lit the afterburners when cruising over the Atlantic in order to push on through the sound barrier was also pretty memorable! Amazing to get pushed back in your seat when you're already travelling at around 600mph. I used to work for BA so was lucky enough to book as a courier. I paid £200 to fly Concorde LHR - NYC carrying an envelope full of documents, with the return leg on a 747 in business class.
I'd arranged a long weekend with a few mates in New York. We all arrived at Heathrow together, they jumped on a 747 and I took off a bit later. Overtook them somewhere over the Atlantic, then had to wait for them for something like 4 hours in arrivals at JFK before we all jumped in a cab together to Manhattan!

I exceeded a sales target many years ago and won a trip away for 5 days to include a flight on Concorde.
