Projector to rival Panny P65VT65
Discussion
Seeking a bit of advice. As per title I'm considering swapping our P65VT65 with a larger projector (targeting maybe a 100" picture) and I am a projector noob. Darkness of the room is not an issue (no light leakage) which I know at least used to be a problem.
Are there any projectors out there to rival the picture quality of my existing Panny?
Would be for movie and also gaming.
Thanks
Matt

What's your budget?
Not really thought about it to be honest as I'm not even sure projector picture quality can match what I have today.Man-maths for the telly said that I'd spend fifty quid on a night out without too much bother. So one night staying in each week for a year meant the TV was 'free'...

I have a 24' wall that could be projected on to, if the right paint can make that an acceptable 'screen'? Otherwise I'd want a screen that could roll away (possibly even come down in front of a TV, and would use the TV for normal viewing and the screen/projector for movies). As per above post - not really thought about budget yet.
Unless you are prepared to cover your walls and ceiling with dark paint (or ideally black material) then you will suffer from reflections back to the screen regardless of how dark your room is. Therefore it depends on how far down this track you are prepared to go: Even a top of line JVC won't look it's best if you have light walls and a white ceiling.
That isn't to say you can't enjoy a projector in a less than ideal room (I've been doing that myself for years), but if you want to 'rival a Panny P65VT65' then it's not just about the hardware. You can get special screens that help combat light reflections from the sides/ceiling, but they are often as much money as the projector itself and arguably you'd still get a better picture with a white screen and room treatment.
