Wiper function

My wiper stalk has a seemingly unused switch, by pushing it forward. I used to drive a Carlton, this activated the rear wiper.

So, is it a redundant feature, or some super-secret Nitrous boost I don't know about?

Nah, thats operated by pulling. This is pushing.

It's the rear-facing machine gun button. It was an option on earlier cars.

Mine does the same. It probably did activate the rear wiper on whatever car it came from.

I currently drive a vectra and a chim and they have the same 'stalks'. pushing the wiper stalk forward in the vectra operates the rear wiper....never tried it / noticed it in the chim.

On squirt function should the wipers wipe?
Mine don't!
Any suggestions as to how to cure this if they should wipe?

Its the wiper switch. Try cleaning the contacts, failing that, get a new one (or one from a scrapper).

Suggest you check the relay/timer in the fuse box, IIRC this controls both those functions. I assume park works as it should. Some nice chap at a TVRCC meet may let you try his relay/timer - they are a 'special'.

Just checked and 'park' does not work either.
It appears that one speed only and no other expected functions work.
Ideas anyone??

Check the park switch & its contacts, plenty of info on here in other threads.

As already mentioned, check the relay in the fuse box too. I had the same problem recently and on checknig I found the relay had popped out.

I found it in the passenger footwell, replaced it and everything is fine now.
