Project Cars 2
Discussion
The first trailer is out and the estimated release is late 2017 (so expect it somewhere in 2019 if PC1 is anything to go by!)

PC1 was by no means perfect but after a few false starts and a patch or two, it became something rather special. I'll be keeping a close eye on progress and I hope that this time they nail it straight out of the box.
For what it's worth, I'll be a happy bunny if we can have genuine multi class grids that reflect WEC and IMSA type events. Obviously from my point of view, more of those type of cars is a must too.

That won't happen they do deals with manufacturers rather than race series (unless they do deals with all the manufacturers involved). Simbin UK's GTR3 will be what you want it's race series based.Despite a load of issues and false starts, PCars 1 turned into one of my most ever played games. Full wheel pedals and game seat to be fair is a must though and a trudge through the FFB settings necessary to get the most from it.
But it delivered in one core area for me...it was this generations ToCA race driver.
Only thing missing, custom championships.
So PCars 2 seems bigger and better but very much SMS going for the same console gold that Turn 10 get mullered for.
They won't care, this isn't an elitist 'sim' for a few nerds with a gaming PC, thank God.
So long as they have addressed core issues that plagued PCars 1 and also they include custom championships this time around then i'll be more than happy.
I just hope they haven't over reached with trying to be everything to everyone, which was what ToCA series became and it was it's ruin...

I dont mind not having the whole licensed series, I just mean that a few more authentic LMP/GTE cars would be nice so that you can approximate the real thing. The most important thing for me is that we can have proper offline multi class races of prototypes and GT's. I have seen confirmation of this from Ian Bell on another forum. Is that the GT Planet forum?
Love PCars1, and AC...F1 2016 was a step forward badly needed. I only play racing games, so for me it will be a must have, to be honest I buy most racing games. I have access to the dev builds of PC2 and I'm impressed with the improvements, still lots to do obviously but I think it will be a cracker.

You can do that in pCars(1) with a mod.. http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?43...

No it wasn't. Toca race driver was epic, a game anyone could get in to without having to spend hours upon hours adjusting settings
Exactly, you can fire up Dirt Rally or Assetto Corsa and straight off all cars feel sublime with your wheel, it really annoyed me with all the settings in Project Cars, it was a complete nause.PH XKR said:

You know before games all went "yo dude gnarly drift dawg" which ironically was codemasters fault.
With out doubt though for me PCars 2 will be a sell out title. It'll be closer to Forza than to the previous game. They have tasted the console money and that is what they will play to, be mad not to. Most people want to play using a controller.
the track selection is epic, the cliff to climb to be able to even drive in a straight line without the car randomly going into an uncrecoverable tank slapper was unforgivable. I'm not going to invest in a steering wheel to play a game. it could easily have catered for the wheel crowd whilst also making it easy for the casual sim fan with a controller. To put it into perspective, it was easier to drive around Silverstone in 1986 playing F1 Grand Prix on the spectrum with a kempston joystick than it was to get down the back straight at Silverstone on the Xbox with the controller.

PC2 will be better, but the issues with PC1 particularly with controllers on XB1 were pretty bad. As a PC player I think I got the best version (least buggy). I'm playing PC2 dev builds and the handling in terms of lateral grip is much better. It is going to be more focussed on e-sports so maybe PC, but controllers are getting a lot more focus because the majority of punters are on console.
Basically they logged every review and issue, and they're ticking them off as they go. PC2 might not be perfect, but it will be a hell of a lot better than the first game. They can afford proper QA testing this time.

Biggest issue i have with PC1 is the collision system, anytime you touch anyone its like you've just been tiger sealed to their door and just can't escape, there is other annoying things about it aswell that they just never bothered to fix
Yep and as soon as you touch, your brakes stop working and you both end up going straight on into the barriers...this one really annoys me, nothing you can do if someone brakes in front of you and your reactions arent quick enough, and as an early braker myself I regularly catch people out/get caught by this...I'm not sure I get the argument around "these games are crap as they are hard/impossible with a controller.
I thought the point of these games (PC1 etc) are that they are simulation games...i.e. As close to reality as they can get......so playing with a wheel is almost "required" ? The closer these games get to that reality, the harder they will be to control without an "appropriate" input mechanism, which for driving would be a wheel setup ? If this isn't the case, are they not compromised from day 1 ?
