This summer I drove to Italy and bought Sofia a 1971 Fiat 500. I then drove it 1000 miles all the way back to the UK! It was a great adventure and loads of fun.. some of you may have seen the thread of the journey. Couple of pics of the trip below.

Once I got to the Uk I registered Sofia and now I've managed to swap it with a friend for his Delta Integrale 16V - what a coup huh??? Obviously I've also had to bung some cash his way but it's really nice that we've managed to keep both cars with people we know.

This Delta has a lot of History, it was the car featured on 5th Gear and driven by Vicky Butler Henderson and has been in various books and magazines. It is high mileage (140K) but had a replacement EVO engine about 40,000 miles ago and is relatively tidy. Also has the EVO front end and has been breathed on so should be putting out around 250bhp. Certainly feels that way!

I have a little video on the swap but unfortunately Pistonheads rules mean I cannot post the link myself. If you go on my profile there is a link there to my you tube channel and you can find the video. Or if you like feel free to post the link in your replies!

Hey man, I tried to move it but ended up cancelling the other one and then realised that this was the proper place for it rather than the general gassing station since both are classics..

That is the greatest trade of all time. Even Mr 'old-aht-yer-hand would struggle to beat that. I have had my Evo 2 for 16 years now, but firmly believe the 16v is the sleeper of the range. Every one I have driven has felt extremely sprightly, much more so than an off colour Evo does.

Enjoy it!

Nice swap.

Do you have a link to the thread about importing the 500?

I want to do something similar, so any info will help.

Yeah, obviously Jago, my mate who took the 500, will have to learn to go easy on the throttle pedal now he's in a much more powerful car...

It was a nightmare. The Italians are a right pain now about exporting cars, especially if you actually want to drive it back.

Thanks for the link.

I couldn't remember the thread, but I replied to it saying I'd heard it was getting difficult! whistle
