Hi All.

Not owned a Porsche for a while and to be honest didn't really have any immediate plans to until a customer and friend mentioned they were looking to sell theirs.

It's 996 Turbo coupe, 2002, Manual, Silver paint/ black leather, 40k miles, 2 owners FSH (4 OPC and last 4 Independent)and in fine order throughout.

I know the easy answer is to check the classifieds but I thought I'd call on PH for an idea on price...he's asking £45k which for a private sale seems a little punchy to me?

Is this the right kind of money for these beauties in today's market?

Many thanks in advance

Sounds right to me, it's relativity low mileage and offers great performance plus doesn't rust (apart from nuts and bolts).

Look at what other 911's you can get for £45k, aircooled asking prices are crazy, offer a fraction of the performance and often cost more to get up to a decent standard due to being older.

But I maybe biased owning a 2002 (52) 996 turbo X50! biggrin

Thanks for the reply.

Ive owned a 997T in the past so the performance is appreciated.

Don't rust? I thought the 996 do rust; or is the Turbo an exception?

I haven't seen a rusty 996 apart from exhaust bolts etc, if the body has rust it's likely to be from damage to the paintwork from stone chips or an accident which has been poorly repaired.

End of the kick plated, cill after the front wheel and rear arch. I wouldn't say they don't rust.

Its a fair price on the face of it. Would perhaps have expected more than 8 stamps in the book by now though; how long since last service, all the normal bits done in recent years? Replacing the consumables like clutch/brakes/tyres/rads could stick another 10% on top so check it carefully even if it is a mate flogging it..

It was owned by his father from new and had the first 4 opc stamps; then it was SORN for 3 years in dry storage then his son took over it so I guess the SH is OK

I've spoken to the last Indy to service it and all is good - Had replacement turbo, all new brake lines. Only point of note was corrosion on the inner face of rear discs. They are £100 each and I can change them myself.

Rads are fine and have been regularly cleared of debris.

Sounds about right. on the forecourt you'd be looking at 48k-50k+ with that mileage (and manual box). Knock him down a grand or two and you have a steal.
