looking to do something different to go with tonights tuna steak.
bought a couple of lovely bits last night, so what to do it with?
i usually griddle sear it and serve with stir fried veg and rice.
i was thinking of a crunchy asian type salad perhaps?
mushroom gyozas to start, so eastern flavours ideally.
thanks in advance.

Can't help with the eastern idea but one of my favourites is seared tuna steak with a really good ratatouille and gnocchi fried in butter with fresh herbs and a decent pile of gremolata on the fish.

New potatoes, and steamed mange touts and baby corn. I marinade the tuna in soy sauce, lemon and coriander for about 30 mins, then griddle.

I did tuna steaks last night and made up a salsa with tomatoes, red onion, feta cheese, avocado, fresh lime juice, coriander, rapeseed oil and a grind of black pepper.

Served with a bit of garlic bread.

Tuna with chilli flakes, salt and pepper fried and served slightly rare.... spaghetti with tender stem broccoli, chilli, cherry tomatoes and lemon juice.

Delicious.

Potato cut into batons, baked golden brown and sprinkled a pinch of salt.
Then gently warm some haricot beans in a tomato based sauce, with maybe a little pepper if feeling adventurous.
Complete the dish with a pan fried egg seated upon the tuna steak.

Samphire is a good partner - steamed or fried with a bit of butter...

Mango salsa.

Mango, red onion, green chilli, lime juice, fresh coriander, sugar.

Chop everything very finely, squeeze over the lime juice and add a pinch of sugar to taste. It may not need much depending on the ripeness of your mango.

superb suggestions everyone, many thanks. i'll try a few of those in the future. i'm going down the salad route this time, purely because i wanted to have another bash at making the gyozas, and it'll be nice and easy. just a simple one of finely sliced pepper, cucumber spring onions and mixed leaves with beansprouts, toasted sesame seeds and the dressing from the wagamama cookbook.
might put up a pic if anyone cares to see.

I lightly marinade in extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and lime juice, then BBQ like a steak till rare. Served with a simple green salad and some crusty bread.

Maybe some samphire for something a bit different? Sainsburys sell it in the fresh herb section.

Wrap them up in a tin foil parcel with a drop of red wine, garlic, chilli, ginger and a tiny bit of onion.
Pop them in the oven.
Serve with rice, nice.

not wanting to come across too ignorant, but i've never had samphire, what does it taste of? do i steam it? i heard it tastes "of the sea" any truth in that?
