Laziness is rife with the british motorist..

Only this evening, I called at the newsagents in my village and knowing there are double yellow lines outside (due to the bend), I parked my vehicle a 100 yards away, where I wouldn't contrevene a law or present a danger to others.

As I left the shop, Mr AudiA6 was parked on the double yellows as he just 'popped' into the shop. I was off-duty, so no bollockings, but no door-held-open for him either....

I also get really peed off with double yellow parking. We live in a village with narrow roads and narrow pavements - the doubles are there so the traffic flow doesn't get blocked.

We have double yellows opposite our drive entrance. If someone parks there, we cant get out - but they still do.

I am tempted to take digital photos one weekend and send them to the police. Not that they will probably be able do anything, but it will make me feel smug for a while.

Trouble is Big M...the offence will soon be de-criminalised and is seen as so petty...people don't give it the importance it deserves...

Yes there some yellow lines at locations for unknown reasons, but usually there are reasons why parking is prohibited.

The slack-ass attitude of some drivers and their 'drive through' mentality pees me off too...

:devilsadvocatemodeon: Perhaps if drivers didn't get such a rough deal everywhere else on the road they wouldn't abuse parking like this :devilsadvocatemodeoff:

Before anyone flames me - I've only ever received one parking ticket - and that was revoked

I suppose if you feel you pay too much in council tax you should be able to shoplift once a month too..

Nah...it's twoddle....the lazy mares don't like to walk more than 30 feet...too many McDonalds drive-thru visits etc....they think everything should be like it...

Talking about NIMBY's.......After receiving numerous complaints from residents about speeding motorists on a certain road....I spent 4 hours on the road this morning with my Pro-laserII. Half of those caught at over 40mph in the 30mph zone (with schoolkids everywhere) were the local residents. Two of which complained that when they wrote in to complain...it was about the boy-racers on an evening not in the morning and it wasn't fair that they were getting 3 points for doing 42mph in a 30zone past a school...

Streetcop, I agree that 42 outside school at 9am is not good. However, will you also be there to catch the boy racers in the evening? I guess they'll probably be doing a lot more than 42, and making a lot more nuisance for everyone.

I also get upset at people who drive along my daughter's route to school at a lot more than 30. However, there's never been an accident or even a near miss that I'm aware of. Perhaps it's the same at the school you mention. But if local residents are so unhappy with the boy racers, would you agree that you owe it to them to help them with this as well as just "catch them out"?

At a Tesco in Leicester they've trialled fining "w*nkers" £40 if they don't display a disabled parking badge, rising to £60 if they fail to pay within a week.

And depending on the store, the customer service people will go out and have a word with the git. I prefer putting a trolley on their roof - but maybe that's just me

BTW The campaign group is called Baywatch - splendid!

Near where I live, part of the main high street is called "takeaway ally" as there are loads of every type of takeaway known to man...

In the evening I have seen poeple literally fighting for spaces on the kurb in front of KFC and whatever. Fair enough but there is a FREE empty car park less than (I timed this) 1min 30seconds away. This includes getting out of the car and centrally locking it as well

Lazyness in the extreme!

In reference to locals, parent's and the like doing 42 in a 30 zone compared to boy racers it is something I have to put up with every day at the same time just now.
The town where I live must have the worst parking habits ever and lorry/bus/taxi drivers constantly doing 45+ regardless of weather.
At school lunchtimes we get the 18yr old boys in their 306td's doing 50+ to try and impress the girls.
Oh and by the way the local Panda car usually sits right on my bumper whenever I drive out of here cos I stick to the limit.

In most places, its just lazyness. But - there are many towns where double yellows reinforce the neccessity to park on metered streets, and we all know the primary reason for parking meters.

Hi Peter..

In all fairness...I can say yes....

In 9/10 occasions, I take a pro-laserII out on patrol with me...and often will 'plot up' at 2am on a road with the laser....

I catch speeders, which usually lead to arrests for drink driving and prosecutions for other offences...

Trouble with the boy-racers; is that unless it's an area which they congregate in...you're likely to see one....once every hour or so....There'll be no pedestrians about, no commuters etc etc..

Where as at 9am this morning, there were kids all over the place, delivery drivers, commuters, cyclists etc etc....and 42mph in the 30 zone was significantly more dangerous than 52mph later in the evening..IMHO

But back to the point...yes...I'm committed to targetting dangerous drivers; whatever their 'background' and whatever the time or location...

I prosecute, be it way way of report on summons or fixed penalty at least 15 people per shift. I cannot quantify how many I 'influence'....hopefully 20 x that number...........

The amount of times I've gone into an obviously busy car park and taken one of the spaces at the back, only to find that the person who entered the car park in front of me is still driving around looking for a space near the entrance as I walk past them into the shop.

It's not even lazy, it's stupid, walking is a lot less effort and stress free than driving around a car park hoping to find a space.
