Porsche Cayenne 3.2 V6
Discussion
Dear readers
I am looking at buying a second hand Porsche Cayenne for my family for ideally under £10k with as low mileage as possible.
These cars seem somewhat better value than a lot of other rival German 4x4 cars and wondered if anyone has owned one and if they can suggest any helpful tips/reviews.
Many thanks.

Wife had one for 2 years, 70k miles and 84k when sold. Only problem was propshaft bearing which is common across this platform ie VW, Audi etc. Good experience. When sold no loss on depreciation to talk of.
Ok thanks for this. Were running costs a fortune? Slightly concerned about this and being taken to the cleaners given it is a Porsche and I have never owned one before!e600 said:

Did your car have sat nav (and if so could you enter a full five digit postcode for the UK) and are there any other extra's you would recommend? Heating seats and parking sensors are a must I think!Wife was a low mileage driver so fuel costs were negligible, probably mid high 20's, it had satnav, but it was early generation so a £100 tomtom was carried in the glovebox in case it was needed. It had front and rear parking sensors both audible and visible and heated seats.
Servicing was done by a local standard type garage with no big bills, it had filters, oils and pads, that's about it really

Best car we've owned. V8, 2006 model, purchased on 70k sold at 125k, never spkioped a beat. The prop/doughnut bearing was getting noisy when we sold it.
I have heard of people suffering with piston slap which means curtains for the block basically.
Our q7 on the other hand was a pile of s
te. £6k in one year. Injectors, inlet manifolds and water ingress in the boot which fried the mmi.

Thanks but I don't think that I could afford to run the V8 engine!I have heard of people suffering with piston slap which means curtains for the block basically.

Sorry to hear about the Q7 drama's! These high servicing bills scare me when buying a second hand 4x4!

Ok thanks. What year was the Porsche your wife owned please? I wonder when the second generation sat nav came out for those cars.Servicing was done by a local standard type garage with no big bills, it had filters, oils and pads, that's about it really

I looked at buying 955 Cayenne pretty hard recently, decided against it as they are just not that big inside.
- Pan roofs are trouble and leak and ££££ to fix
- Coolant pipes on the V8s go and cause chaos
- V6s are pretty reliable but pretty similar mpg to V8 (i.e. bad) due to working hard all the time
- Air suspension pretty common option and worth having
- Doughnut as mentioned before, common problem to this platform and easy cheap fix now
